Mateus Nicolau de Almeida, together with his wife Teresa Ameztoy, work at a winery they call Adega do Sável (Alosa alosa).

It is an “Iberian” family business rooted in the winemaking tradition of the Douro and Rioja regions, where history and innovation intersect.
“We do not follow the path of our ancestors. We seek what they sought.”

Their production values the authenticity and quality of Douro and Port wines, combining traditional methods with sustainable and biodynamic practices that respect the soil and local ecosystem. The careful attention to every stage, from the vineyard to the moment the wine reaches the table, reflects their dedication to meticulous and passionate work.

Our work has been to bring consumers the different “Douros” we discover through the search for different vineyards and experimental vinifications.
